Jean Barrett "the author"

I have to tell you that the publishing industry is a crazy business. For instance, my real name is Bob Rogers. It’s a good name, but I’ve never published a book with it on the cover. It seemed appropriate when I began writing romance that I use a female pen name. I’ve used several since then, starting with Lee Rogers for Kensington. When I moved on to Berkley, I became Jean Barrett and stayed Jean Barrett through Dorchester, Five Star, The Wild Rose Press, and Harlequin Intrigue. I currently write for Harlequin’s Romantic Suspense line as Jean Thomas. If you add up all of my published books, I’ve written twenty-eight of them, many printed in foreign editions. They’ve appeared also in e-book form and audio form, as well as made such best seller lists as Waldenbooks, B. Dalton and BookScan.

I was the proud recipient of the National Booksellers’ Best Award and twice won the National Write Touch Readers’ Award. As I’ve already mentioned, my statewide chapter of Romance Writers of America presented me with the Lifetime Achievement Award. It sits in a place of honor in the home I share with my beloved wife, Laura, on Wisconsin’s Lake Michigan shoreline.
